China's Central Meteorological Station says, Beijing and Tianjin saw the largest amount of snowfall since 1951, on Sunday.

Experts say the blizzard will move towards the southeast to Liaoning and Shandong Provinces, bringing more than 10 millimeters of snow. Meanwhile, a strong cold front will extend across northern and central China, sending temperatures down by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.

Later in the week, temperatures in the north was forecasted to plummet to minus 20 to 32 degrees Celsius, while areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers are expected to drop to minus 10 to 18 degrees Celsius.

The CMS issued the first orange alert against the cold weather on Saturday, and a second on Sunday morning.
